Tea cup is 3" in diameter, stands 2.75" high, and holds about 4 oz.

Fancy-Pants Porcelain - Arita-yaki, also known as imari porcelain, is the crème de la crème of Japanese pottery, selected for top restaurants and luxury export. This tea cup is encircled by five different traditionally Japanese designs.

Bright Asian Colors - If you’re not into the natural, earthy color of some other types of pottery from Japan, the bright red flowers and rice field scenes on Arita pottery will be more your speed. Artisans use bright red, blue, green, and gold paint for dainty plum blossoms, blue waves, and sweet little rabbits.

Collectible - From 1600 to the late 1800’s, Japan was completely closed off from the rest of the world. When the Emperor finally re-opened the ports, Arita potters boxed up their wares and sent them out on the first European ships. These days you can pick up vintage imari porcelain plates and bowls from Amsterdam to Montana. Many contemporary pieces share a design aesthetic with pieces 400 years old.
