Block Printed Cotton Journal
|
Each journal is made of 100% recycled cotton and hand-screen printed. Measures 8.5'' by 6.5'' with blank white pages. Thin braided tie closure. Eco-Friendly - Instead of tanning more leather or chopping down another tree, artisans recycled the world's thirstiest fabric (cotton) to create this journal. The cover is soft and hand-quilted. Jot down your daily thoughts or travel dreams, and if you don't like the way your personal essay on porcupines sounds, just recycle the journal (again). Many Hands, One Project - There are no computers involved in hand block printing. A designer sketches a pattern by hand, a wood carver chisels a wood block stamp, then block printers use a single stamp for 1500 meters of fabric. Sewers whip the printed cloth into clothing and home decor items. A Trade For A Trade sources hand block printed textiles from organizations committed to reviving the livelihood of hand block designers, carvers, printers, and sewers. Workers are paid a fair wage, and have access to many social and educational projects in the community. ![]() |
