Himalayan Bridge Cloth Batik Picture
Batik measures 24.5" x 12"
This handmade Nepali cloth batik displays the colorful image of three people crossing a bridge in the Himalayas. Batik pictures are made by covering part of the cloth in wax, then dying the cloth with different colors. The wax resists the dye, and creates a beautiful and unique image.
Since 1984, the Association for Craft Producers (ACP) has been a model non-profit in Nepal, providing regular design, market and technical services to low income craft producers. This results in sustainable, fair wages that supplement family income and improve the overall standard of living. ACP specifically targets low-income female craft producers, and has created a Producer Welfare program that includes: savings programs, education, retirement funds, counseling services, paid maternity and paternity leave, and education allowances for girl children, among many other benefits.
